A New York City native, Chef Kai Arrindell has been a foodie her whole life. Raised by parents whose Caribbean heritage engendered an early appreciation of fresh, local food, Kai discovered just how much fun cooking could be. She is particularly fascinated by the art of food and its power to draw people together. But for Kai, preparing food is more than just an art form; it’s a way to create global community, a sentiment she brought with her when she volunteered in South African schools and township communities. Kai attended culinary school in Asti, Italy, and earned her B.A. from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration, with a concentration on Food and Beverage Management. Passionately involved in both the Women of Color Coalition and Phenomenon Step Team, Kai spends her free time writing, creating recipes, and searching for the perfect cupcake.
