Jennifer Wagner serves as Intake Coordinator & Primary Therapist for all of Aurora’s outpatient programs. Jennifer is a skilled eating disorder therapist providing individual psychotherapy, DBT skills coaching, meal support sessions, family therapy, and group therapy. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Rutgers University, and her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Michigan School of Social Work.

Jennifer’s post-graduate experience has included working at the Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient, and Outpatient levels of care with adolescents, young adults, and families. Her clinical experience has yielded specialization in the treatment of eating disorders, anxiety and mood disorders, substance use disorders, personality disorders, as well as self-injury.

During her graduate studies, Jennifer specialized in Mental Health and Interpersonal Practice. In addition to working with at-risk families in rural Michigan, she was given the opportunity to co-lead a research study with the University of Michigan Department of Psychiatry, studying attachment between mothers with mental health needs and their children. Jennifer later completed two clinical internships at eating disorder treatment facilities providing holistic care and the use of a wide array of treatment modalities.

Jennifer is a psychodynamic therapist who approaches her work in a holistic fashion, utilizing multiple treatment modalities, and has received advanced training and supervision in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Radically Open DBT (RO-DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and Motivational Interviewing. She takes a highly individualized and eclectic approach in order to meet each individual’s needs. Her goal is to create a safe, nurturing, and nonjudgmental environment to encourage introspection and healing. Her primary goal is to assist and support individuals in developing the insight and the tools they need to approach whatever challenges their lives may bring.
