Anna Moretti serves as primary therapist for Aurora’s intensive evening programs and also provides individual therapy, meal support, DBT skills training and Yoga Therapy for Eating Disorders to our clients. As one of the DBT specialists on the team, Anna runs DBT groups for all outpatient programs.

Anna earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from City University of New York’s Hunter College. She attended Loyola University in Chicago, IL, graduating with a Master’s in Social Work; her degree specialization was in Mental Health, with a sub-specialty in Interprofessional Practice with At Risk Youth.

Anna is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) through the Yoga Alliance and serves as one of Aurora’s yoga therapists in our outpatient programs. Anna is also an active member of The International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT).

Anna’s experience has included working with adolescents, young adults and families in intensive outpatient programs, outpatient therapy/groups, and the school setting. Her clinical background has involved specializing in the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, substance abuse disorders, as well as self-injury and disorders of emotion regulation, specifically Borderline Personality Disorder. Her specialty is working with adolescents and young adults with eating disorders and dual diagnosis. She has had extensive training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and is certified through Behavioral Tech as well as advanced training in Radically Open DBT (RO-DBT), and is an advanced standing candidate in the Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy training program.

Anna has an interest in holistic and complimentary therapies and is passionate about the application of mind-body practice in mental health. Her training offers a strong focus on meditation, pranayama, energetic awareness, yoga philosophy and its application to eating disorder recovery.

Anna’s therapeutic approach integrates psychoanalytic theory, behavioral interventions, and mindfulness practices. Her holistic approach focuses on helping individuals with an eclectic resource of interventions at the center.

Anna’s objective in treatment is to provide a nonjudgmental environment that offers an opportunity to safely explore issues through processing, problem solving and feeling supported in one’s experience. She works to help clients discover the inner strengths inherent in each individual. She seeks to foster change and develop new strategies for approaching challenges in clients’ lives.
