The groups were the most helpful thing for me. I felt more comfortable being around people dealing with the same issues as me.
The cook & dine group was awesome! I was surprised at how much I learned. Chef Kai made it really easy to be in the kitchen with some of my fear foods.
I’ve worked with Marissa for years now and went from binging & purging 2x a day every day, to being symptom free. I still have work to do, but my life is so so different now and I wouldn’t give that up for anything.
I always felt like I could move at my own pace but they still challenged me. Some days were really hard and I didn’t want to keep going, I would get frustrated and want to quit, but they never gave up on me.
Most of my life has been spent as a fat person. I was overweight as a child, teased, and started sneaking food from an early age. No one understood what I went through. My parents brought me to doctors and nutritionists and put me on diets. It was pure hell for me and made me feel worse about myself. After completing individual therapy and yoga therapy, I made peace with food and my body.
Family therapy was one of the best things I did. It was scary to agree to it, but my relationship with my parents has completely changed for the better.
When I sent my daughter to Aurora, we were completely hopeless and exhausted. Burned out as a family. A’s eating disorder had taken everything we had. Working with Marissa and her team changed the game. From day one, Marissa said she knew our daughter could recover and no matter how many obstacles came up, she was relentless in her pursuit of recovery for A. The entire Aurora team rallied for A, and for our family, and I am so grateful for the care we received.
You can feel the energy of Aurora and its staff from the moment you walk in the doors. This is a place of healing, love, care and concern. The team is passionate and dedicated.
Thank you for saving my life.
